HSN opens Northern Ontario’s first sickle cell clinic, bringing care closer to home

Health Sciences North (HSN) has opened the region’s first dedicated hemoglobinopathy clinic to provide specialized care for patients with sickle cell disease and thalassemia — two blood disorders historically under-recognized and undertreated, especially among Black, Caribbean, Middle Eastern, and South Asian communities.

Mammothon is back!

Between June 16-20, Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) sites across Northeastern Ontario are participating in Mammothon 2025 – a special weeklong breast screening initiative aimed at screening 445 eligible participants aged 50–74 who are overdue or have never had a mammogram.

UCCM Anishnaabe Police Service Donates Crisis Response Vehicle to Health Sciences North’s Mobile Crisis Rapid Response Team

New vehicle strengthens rapid mental health care and emergency support across Manitoulin Island communities

Health Sciences North (HSN) and the UCCM Anishinaabe Police Service (UCCM Police) are proud to announce a significant step forward in enhancing emergency mental health services across Manitoulin Island. Thanks to a generous donation from UCCM Police, the Mobile Crisis Rapid Response Team (MCRRT) is now equipped with a dedicated crisis vehicle, enabling mental health professionals to respond to calls more safely and effectively.
