Between June 16-20, Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) sites across Northeastern Ontario are participating in Mammothon 2025 – a special weeklong breast screening initiative aimed at screening 445 eligible participants aged 50–74 who are overdue or have never had a mammogram.
Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Canadian women, but early detection through screening can lead to better outcomes and more effective treatment. That’s why these sites are proud to take part in this regional challenge to help more people check “get a mammogram” off their to-do list.
Who Should Get Screened?
- Ages 50–74: You are eligible for a mammogram through the Ontario Breast Screening Program every two years, even without a referral from a doctor.
- Ages 40–49: Talk to your primary care provider to decide if screening is right for you.
- Don’t have a family doctor? Visit Health811 or call 811 to speak with a health professional.
