HSN’s Medical Staff are required to pursue faculty appointment and teach undergraduate and postgraduate trainees at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM). Currently, 78% of HSN’s active Medical Staff members are faculty at NOSM.

HSN’s Simulation Laboratory is enhancing the skills of health care providers in Northern Ontario through collaborative, high-quality, innovative, multi-disciplinary, simulation-based education. The Sim Lab was established in 2012 and welcomes nearly 2,000 learners each year.

There is also an opportunity to lead and participate in research through the Health Sciences North Research Institute (HSNRI). The Institute's objective is to target Northern health priorities.

If you are currently practicing or within one year of graduating, the Ontario Ministry of Health’s Community Assessment Visit Program (CAV) covers the cost of travel and accommodations while investigating a practice opportunity in Sudbury. The Ministry also offers the Northern and Rural Recruitment and Retention Initiative (NRRRI), a financial incentive available to physicians who establish a full-time practice in Sudbury.
