Welcome to the HAVEN program

The HAVEN Program is an outpatient program that provides care to people living with HIV in northeastern Ontario. We recognize that people living with HIV may face many challenges. Often, these challenges are complex and are not easily solved by any one person. For these reasons, a team approach to care is offered by the HAVEN Program. Each member of the HAVEN team has unique skills. Together, the HAVEN team can provide care to you and your loved ones.

  • Specialty medical care
  • Case management
  • Nutrition and diet counselling
  • Access to, and advice and teaching about HIV medications
  • Access to experimental drugs, clinical trials and research
  • Specialized lab testing
  • Nursing care and support
  • Supportive counselling
  • Information and handouts on HIV-related medications and issues
  • Consultation with your other health care providers

 

 

Early treatment and care will help you live a more active, healthy life. We want to hear from you between visits if you are:

  • feeling anxious or depressed
  • having fevers
  • having night sweats
  • having diarrhea or weight loss
  • short of breath or coughing
  • noticing white patches in your mouth or have a painful mouth
  • having trouble swallowing or a sore throat
  • noticing rashes or problems with your skin
  • having headaches or pain
  • noticing changes in your vision
  • having irregular menstrual periods or yeast infections
  • feeling lonely or afraid
  • noticing a loss of appetite
  • noticing changes in your memory
  • worried about anything at all
 

Please call for an appointment if you are noticing changes in your health. 
When we are closed, we encourage you to get the care that you need from your family doctor or the nearest local walk-in clinic or emergency department.
