Happy Volunteer Week! Meet Kendra Hurley

Kendra spends her days volunteering at HSN. In the mornings, she completes co-op hours by checking on former patients who've gone home after surgeries, her afternoons are spent reading and engaging with patients at their bedside to help them through their recovery, and on the weekends she helps out in the busy Emergency Department.

Happy Volunteer Week! Meet Samantha Kuula

Samantha’s journey as a volunteer began in 2020 after experiencing gaps in her own care. She decided to get involved by becoming a volunteer Patient and Family Advisor to share her voice and help improve the patient experience at HSN. Now also the Vice Chair of the Northern Cancer Foundation Board of Directors, she continues to share her knowledge to better care in our community.

Solar Eclipse Safety

On April 8th Ontario will experience a total eclipse of the sun. In Greater Sudbury, the eclipse will start around 2 pm with the full eclipse at approximately 3:20 pm. Safety is the number one priority during a solar eclipse.  Looking directly at the uncovered sun without protection can cause retinol burns, blurred vision, or loss of eyesight.
