Team work, open communication, and lots of checkpoints with team members appears to be the recipe for success in the first few weeks of EMR go-live for the team on 8 North.
Veronique Trudel is a Nurse Clinician with the Cardiology and the Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) room team. She says the entire team is supporting one another as they learn this new system.
“We have worked really hard to get ourselves ready to learn different workflows for admissions, walk-ins and discharges. Patients don’t stay on our floor for a long period of time. They keep moving through the hospital to go the ICU, CMU, Cath lab and other areas so we have had to master the discharge very quickly. We’re updating resource binders, keeping a close eye on tip sheets, making sure our teams are talking to one another. This wouldn’t be possible without the fantastic At the Elbow Support we have in Tosin, Emile and Olivia. Our Manager Erik and Director Melissa have also been so good with checking in on everyone. It’s really brought our team closer together,” says Veronique.
