North East Specialized Geriatric Centre (NESGC) Awarded for Excellent Patient Care

It’s been an award winning autumn for the North East Specialized Geriatric Centre (NESGC) as the team was awarded twice for their exemplary work in the community, and for their response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The NESGC is a regional geriatric program and offers a collaborative network of specialized services for older adults experiencing complex health conditions.

HSN’s Holly Sarvas and Alex Wood awarded with the Nurse Innovator Award!

HSN Simulation Lab staff members Holly Sarvas and Alex Wood have been presented with a $20,000 Nurse Innovator Award from the Registered Nurses' Foundation of Ontario (RNFOO) to support their project Creative Strategies for Nursing Knowledge Transfer in Northern Communities. The team will develop an online resource that supports nurses in remote and northern communities to help them further develop their skills and provide the best care possible for their patients.

HSN Celebrates Diabetes Awareness Month

Our Pediatric Diabetes Services Program has been integrated into NEO Kids at the Ramsey Lake Health Centre! This specialized program is dedicated to our youngest patients living with diabetes, and gives children and their families’ access to resources, education and ongoing support.

HSN Celebrates Breast Cancer Awareness Month

When Sandra turned 50, she followed in the footsteps of her sister Heather and booked her mammogram with the Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP). “For us, breast screening is part of looking after our health. With breast cancer being the most common cancer for women, early detection is important and is generally linked to better outcomes,” says Heather.
