Dental and Maxillofacial Prosthetics

Our expertise includes surgical and non-surgical management of oral and maxillofacial diseases and disorders, maxillofacial rehabilitation and dental care for the medically complex patients who cannot safely access care in a community dental practice.  The department provides essential dental services for patients of a number of HSN’s strategic programs, most notably the Shirley & Jim Fielding Northeast Cancer Centre.

Hospital Dentistry

Hospital-based dentistry is, in reality, the intersection of medicine and dentistry. We work collaboratively in team-based models with medical/surgical colleagues to provide critical support for trauma, cancer, cardiac, transplant and many other strategic programs of our hospitals.

Key populations include patients with special needs living with caregivers or in a group home, long term care residents with degenerative neurological and/or neuromuscular conditions, patients in palliative care, pts planned for cardiac surgery or transplant and patients admitted for psychiatric care and for vulnerable populations, that examination and treatment requires management under sedation or general anesthesia.
