Michel Carré
Michel is a partner with Weaver, Simmons LLP. He was born and raised in Azilda, Ontario and is fluently bilingual. He is often called upon to represent clients in the French language. He is a graduate from Laurentian University. Thereafter, he went on to obtain his Bachelor of Laws at the University of Ottawa. He has been in private practice since 2009. His practice has focused on the representation of management-side clients in labour and employment law in Northern Ontario (public and private sector employers).
Michel provides legal advice on all aspects of human resources issues. This includes performance management issues, including workplace investigations, in addition to advice on severance and termination obligations. He is also called upon to draft, interpret and implement employment contracts and in particular, to enforce restrictive covenants. He also provides advice on human rights matters, in addition to Workplace Safety and Insurance Board matters.
Michel has extensive experience litigating cases at all levels. He has represented clients in the areas of wrongful dismissal, constructive dismissal and other civil litigation, as well as litigating before a variety of administrative tribunals.
Michel is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Bar Association, the Sudbury and District Law Association and L’Association des juristes d’expression française de l’Ontario.
