Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

An MRI is an imaging test that uses very strong magnets to create images of tissues and organs in your body

A solution sometimes called x-ray dye or contrast may be used to help highlight certain parts of your body to see them more clearly on the images.

An MRI scanner looks like a very large doughnut.  You will be lying on a narrow table that will move you in and out of the center of the machine.

During the scan the machine will make loud noises that are a normal part of the exam. You will be given ear plugs to  soften the sound.

MRI appointments are scheduled 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You may be booked for an appointment after traditional business hours or on the weekend. You will receive a letter with your appointment time, location and any preparations that you may need before your exam.

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment to register and have your health card with you.
