Leslie Steel
Patient Advisor on the CEO Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) since September 2018
I am a government professional who has been progressively responsible for over 30 years. In my time at Social Services we have had many challenges so you can safely say that I am uniquely poised to assist Health Sciences North to effect change.
Throughout my career I have worked tirelessly creating positive relationships with community stakeholders. I believe that my experience working with marginalized populations will be helpful in identifying critical emerging social issues. I know that with my years of advocacy, I can assist HSN to become more patient focused and a world class facility. Meeting people where they are and where they live, is so much more beneficial and the goal is to continue to support the new program design and policies for HSN.
Presently I am an active Board Member of the Northern Initiative for Social Action (NISA) and have been working diligently on their strategic plan. I invite you to view our NISA website and see the huge difference NISA is making for consumers of mental health services right here in our Community. I also am an active Member of the Business & Professional Women’s Association Sudbury Chapter (BPW) where I enjoy team building and promoting the tireless efforts of women’s rights here in our Community.
I am married to Dan Laing and we have 2 children and a beagle. We love to travel near and far... but we always come home to the North.
