Bradley Rietze

Patient Advisor on the CEO Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) since September 2018

I am an active member of my community. I chair the Ontario Medical Students’ Association (OMSA) Educational Committee Mental Health working group (provincial); chair Reach Accès Zhibbi (community); and represent the students’ Wellness Committee at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (institutional). My research interests include physiology, mental health, and social accountability.

I became a Patient and Family Advisor (PFA) to provide my family’s perspective on the services offered at HSN. Members of my family have been patients at HSN, and their valuable feedback includes positive perspectives and constructive evaluations. I have been involved with the CEO PFAC, the Clinical/Research/Teaching Working Group, and the Healthcare Provider Working Group. The acquisition of knowledge from this position will improve the care I provide as a medical professional and the care HSN provides to its patients. I would like the culture of medicine to continue to develop a sincere sense of value in the importance of actualizing patient and family perspectives, as well as healthcare provider wellness.

I enjoy being active. I love to run, cycle, swim, and hike. I enjoy travelling when I can. I have hiked 200km around Mont Blanc (the Alps’ tallest mountain in France, Italy, and Switzerland) and cycled 240km during a 48-hour camping trip through the Archipelago Trail of Finland. I play guitar and enjoy spending time with my family, partner, and friends.
