Marc Despatie
Marc Despatie has a long track record in public affairs, having worked for over 15 years in various roles in the Ontario Public Service, including three years in the office of the Minister of Community and Social Services and the Deputy Minister of Francophone Affairs, as well as a year as representative of the Commissioner of Official Languages of Canada for Ontario. He is currently Director of Communications, Government Relations and the Fondation Boréal at Collège Boréal and has taught at all levels, particularly in journalism and public relations. He was also a freelance journalist for various publications and briefly Executive Director of the newspaper Le Gaboteur, and contributed to books on the history of the Théâtre du Nouvel-Ontario (TNO) and the Centre des jeunes/Carrefour francophone. Marc has also lived in Toronto, St. John’s and La Grand’Terre (TL), and Ottawa. He enjoys walking, hiking, snowshoeing, kayaking, camping, curling, attending cultural events such as concerts and film screenings, and traveling. He has studied mindfulness and mindfulness meditation and offers meditation workshops and historical tours of Sudbury. He has a daughter who is studying science at Memorial University in St. John’s.
