
Dr. Grace Ma
President, Medical Staff Association
Dr. Grace W. Ma, is a fellowship-trained colorectal and minimally invasive surgeon at Health Sciences North and an Associate Professor at NOSM University. She earned her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Western Ontario and completed her General Surgery residency and fellowship training in Colorectal Surgery at the University of Toronto. She also holds a Master of Science degree and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Dr. Ma is incoming President of the HSN Medical Staff Association and has served as Physician Wellness Lead, where she champions physician engagement, wellness, recruitment, retention, and collaborative leadership. Provincially and nationally, she serves as Vice-Chair of the Ontario Medical Association for District 9 (Northeastern Ontario), Vice-Chair of the Section on General Surgery and as a Board Director of the Canadian Association of General Surgeons, advocating for high-quality surgical care, physician leadership, and health system improvement.
An active clinician, educator, researcher, and mentor, Dr. Ma is committed to advancing academic medicine, fostering innovation, and improving access to equitable healthcare across Northern Ontario. As an incoming member of the Health Sciences North Board of Directors, she looks forward to strengthening collaboration between physicians, hospital leadership, and the Board to support exceptional patient care, organizational excellence, and the long-term sustainability of healthcare in the North.
