Monday, March 16, 2026

Update as of 5:00 PM March, 16, 2026

As we head into Monday evening, we wish to extend our thanks to all teams at HSN for their professionalism and dedication over the last 24 hours in navigating the challenging weather conditions.

For Tuesday, March 17, all non-urgent and out patient services will also be cancelled and rescheduled for another day. Impacted patients will be contacted.

Radiation and Chemotherapy treatment appointments in the Shirley and Jim Fielding Northeast Cancer Centre are continuing as usual for Tuesday. Cancer surgeries will also continue for Tuesday. HSN’s Emergency Department also remains open 24/7 for our urgent patient needs.

Food options will be limited for staff and visitors, so plan bring your own food and coffee if coming to HSN in the coming days.

It will take a few days for life to return to normal at HSN. Snow in our parking lots will take time to clear. Wait times may be longer than usual. Thank you for your understanding. Your kindness goes a long way.

A reminder to everyone to continue to watch HSN’s social media channels and website for updates on our operations.

With the current Significant Weather Event impacting Northeastern Ontario, HSN is advising that all outpatient appointments and clinics, as well as elective and non-urgent surgeries planned for March 16 are cancelled and being rescheduled.

This includes chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Dialysis services and treatment are still happening.

HSN’s Emergency Department continues to operate, but patients may experience longer wait times.

With the significant amount of snow in the last 24 hours leading to blocked roads and highway closures, some staff are having a very challenging time in getting to the hospital.

This means we may not be able to contact all patients impacted today.

We ask for everyone’s patience, kindness and understanding as we navigate this weather emergency.

And remind anyone travelling today to be please be very careful.

We will provide additional updates as new information becomes available over the course of the day.

Thank you.
