HSN is proud to announce the conclusion of its first year being a one-stop location for bariatric patients in Northeastern Ontario. The Bariatric Centre of Excellence helps patients lose weight and make lifestyle changes while remaining closer to home.
“When you gain a certain amount of weight, it is extremely difficult to lose that weight without some sort of medical intervention. In many cases, other health issues, such as arthritis, can further limit someone’s ability to exercise. Bariatric surgery offers patients the opportunity to reset,” says HSN General and Bariatric Surgeon, Dr. Zishan Jetha.
Bariatric surgery gives patients the ability to lose weight, and the process is partnered with learning from dieticians, social workers, physiotherapist and nurses giving patients the tools needed to maintain a healthier lifestyle.
The Centre has historically provided pre and post-operation care, with the surgery itself being performed down south. Today, 107 patients have had their surgery performed in Sudbury giving them the chance to stay closer to home.
