Health Sciences North is proud to announce Stephanie Winn has been appointed Vice-President of
Surgical and Clinical Services. She will lead a team of 5 Medical and Administrative Directors and more
than 1200 staff with HSN’s Surgical Program, Medical Imaging, Pharmacy, Infection Prevention and
Control, Laboratory and Pathology.
Stephanie brings 24 years of healthcare experience to the job, including 16 years in progressive
leadership roles at HSN. Stephanie has served as the Administrative Director for the Shirley and Jim
Fielding Northeast Cancer Centre since 2019 and has seen the cancer program achieved a first-place
ranking out of fourteen Regional Cancer Programs in Ontario for all Quality of Care indicators related to
cancer care.
Through this role, Stephanie has also provided regional leadership while helping to address gaps for
patients across the region for cancer care by launching a new mobile cancer screening unit and a new
Regional Indigenous Cancer Strategy. She has also served as Interim Administrative Director for
Indigenous Health at HSN since 2024 and Interim Vice-President of Medicine in 2023.
“Stephanie has a wealth of leadership experience at HSN and at the regional level which will be important
in helping to address health care gaps and improve how we care for patients of Northeastern Ontario.
She is well respected, seen as someone who can tackle problems by building strong working
relationships, foster team collaboration and enhance staff engagement while achieving results. We are
truly excited to have her join our senior team,” said David McNeil, President and Chief Executive Officer
of HSN.
Stephanie started as a nurse in the Nephrology Department at the Laurentian Hospital in 2000 before
moving into supervising roles by 2008 and Director of HSN’s Nephrology Program by 2016. While working
in Nephrology, she lead in the development of new services to address the needs of patients across the
Northeast, while serving on numerous regional and provincial advisory committees.
Stephanie takes over for Kelli-Ann Lemieux who began as the new CEO of Elliot Lake’s hospital in
January of 2025.
Stephanie begins her new role on February 17, 2025.
