🎉 Celebrating One Year of Progress at Health Sciences North! 🎉

The IDEAA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, Anti-Racism) Committee is celebrating its first anniversary, reflecting on transformative strides made toward a more inclusive, equitable, and diverse HSN. Senior Leadership proudly joined the celebration, recognizing the committee’s dedication and impact.

“I’m so proud of the progress made by the IDEAA committee over the last year,” said David McNeil, President & CEO of HSN. “The initiatives were made possible by the dedication and vision of our remarkable committee members. As an organization committed to inclusivity and breaking down barriers, the work of this committee is essential in addressing the priority health needs of our diverse population as we navigate our journey to being more socially accountable.”

Matthew Frederick, committee member, adds, “It is an absolute gift to be part of a team of professionals who are incredibly passionate, diverse, and who, through their individual and collective contributions, are working together to bravely drive positive change within our organization, centred in Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Anti-Racism. The goals we have set, the initiatives we have implemented, and the accomplishments we have achieved over the past year have been nothing short of transformative. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to contribute in meaningful ways to this vital work. Together, we have taken, and continue to take, significant steps toward fostering a safe and inclusive environment for everyone who interacts with and engages with the organization in any capacity.”

Suchita Bali, Chair of the IDEAA Committee, shared, “As Chair of the IDEAA Committee, I am filled with gratitude and pride as I reflect on this year’s accomplishments. None of this work would have been possible without the commitment and insight of our incredible committee members. It is my absolute privilege to work with the committee in shaping a future rooted in continued progress and meaningful change.”

With ongoing efforts like a multi-year comprehensive Social Accountability Cultural Safety and Diversity Training Plan, ongoing meaningful community engagement, and intentional focus towards celebrating diversity, the committee is setting the stage for lasting change and a more inclusive HSN for everyone.
