Love Yourself First Event

Love Yourself First Event

Wednesday, September 25, 2024

During the event, we heard from Métis Nation of Ontario President, Margaret Froh, who shared her inspiring story about the importance of mammography and how her journey with breast cancer inspired the Love Yourself First event series. We also heard from Sheri Beaudin, who shared her heartfelt story about her breast cancer diagnoses from 18 years ago and how she continues to live each day to the fullest.

Attendees also heard from a panel of specialists who shared their expertise – from how to get screened for breast cancer, to how an Indigenous Patient Navigator can support patients and their families, and everything in between.

A huge thanks to the attendees, guest speakers, panelists, and amazing partners for making this event a success, as well as a sincere thank you to France Picotte, Knowledge Keeper, who helped us get started in a good way with a traditional opening and closing prayer.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and early detection is key. Are you ready to book your mammogram and prioritize your health? Visit https://www.cancercareontario.ca/en/types-of-cancer/breast-cancer/screening to learn if cancer screening is right for you, or to find your nearest OBSP site.
