Online support for those who use substances

Online support for those who use substances

Thursday, December 22, 2022

The holiday season can bring on many celebrations that can have a large impact on an individual’s substance use recovery journey.

Breaking Free Online is an innovative online tool that can help support individuals where and when they need it. It is a completely confidential recovery support program available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Available to anyone 16 years and older, the program uses practical, self-guided courses, positive coping skills and behaviour-change techniques to support individuals who may be struggling with substance use.

“When patients reach out for help, they often need it as soon as possible, and the support that is provided is truly critical,” says Jared Bonis, Nurse Practioner, Rapid Access Addictions Medicine (RAAM). “I find that online resources, like Breaking Free, can be useful tools because they are relatively easy to access and they can provide a starting point to engage the patient the same day they see me at RAAM.”

Regardless of someone’s level of substance use, Breaking Free Online may be able to help.

Anyone can register at breakingfreeonline.ca and have free access to programming and resources. Access Code: hsnsudbury2021
