The unveiling of new signage for the Shirley and Jim Fielding Northeast Cancer Centre took place on June 13th to recognize the historic $10 million gift from the Fielding and Perdue family that will help transform care for patients and families across the region. The signage is located on the exterior corner of the Cancer Centre building facing Ramsey Lake Road and honours the legacy of the Fielding and Perdue family impacted by cancer.

“We’re humbled by the recognition and hope that our contribution embodies the giving spirit of Shirley and Jim and inspires others to join the transformation of healthcare for people across Northeastern Ontario,” said Gerry Perdue. “Our family members are grateful to have been able to give back to the health of our community.”

“We are forever grateful for the generosity of the Fielding and Perdue family. This is the largest donation ever to a hospital in Northern Ontario and it’s a gift that’s critical to help build momentum for our capital redevelopment so we can meet the needs of patients and families of this region. It’s also a vote of confidence in our plan and a signal to Northeastern Ontario that it’s time to grow HSN,” said Dominic Giroux, President and CEO of HSN.

“The generosity of the Fielding and Perdue family will live on for generations to come,” said Anthony Keating. “The significance of their exceptional gift is substantial and will allow us to better plan for the future healthcare needs of the communities we serve throughout Northeastern Ontario. We are proud to recognize the family’s generosity and legacy of giving in this meaningful.”
