Anita Swanson
Medical Lab Technologist

I am very proud of my profession and I love being a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT)! I have been an MLT for 33 years, and have spent 18 of them at HSN.

In my present role as Senior Medical Laboratory Technologist, Point of Care, I interact with many other medical professionals, including respiratory therapists, nurses, perfusion, educators, and more. This allows me to not only help them provide the best care for our number one priority, the patient, but it also allows me to show them how the laboratory provides such an important role in patient care.

Every day I feel like I have made a difference in somebody’s life, even though I don’t often see the patient.

Samantha Bouffard
Neurodiagnostics Technician

My name is Samantha and I am a Neurodiagnostics Technician (NDT) here at HSN.

Growing up, I knew I always wanted to work in health care, and I knew I didn’t want to do something common. I changed my mind many times until I finally found neurodiagnostics. I was drawn to the complexity of working with the nervous system and the importance it plays in the functioning of ones body. I knew I wanted to be a part of a diagnostics team that played an important role in the diagnosis, care and outcome of those with neurological/neuromuscular conditions.

Tests that we provide, such as electroencephalograms (EEGs), are essential in the diagnosis of many neurological conditions and help paint a picture for physicians regarding the appropriate route for patient care.  EEGS, along with other diagnostic tests, provide a reliable index of measurement in the role in the diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of patients with neuromuscular diseases and syndromes.
