Congratulations to our Project Search Grads!

Health Sciences North was thrilled to celebrate our first cohort of Project Search graduates yesterday!

Launched last fall, Project Search HSN is a transition-to-work program for students that require additional support.

It combines classroom instruction with hands-on training and helps students in their final year of high school develop skills required for entry-level employment.

A partnership between HSN, Rainbow District School Board, the City of Greater Sudbury and March of Dimes Canada, the program has been a wonderful experience for mentors and managers at HSN as well as the 10 students we honoured at graduation.

Project Search graduate Devan Boucher says he liked working in the rehab workshop at HSN, fixing wheelchairs and learning woodworking.  “I am also more social now since I learned to talk to patients and new people and I am very proud that I got a job working at HSN in Environmental Services.”

Maija Neva is also very excited about the new job she landed at HSN after being in Project Search and she says the experience helped her “learn to work hard, meet new people and learn new skills.”
