An important community message from Dr. Rob Lepage, Medical Director of HSN’s Emergency Department

An important community message from Dr. Rob Lepage, Medical Director of HSN’s Emergency Department

Friday, December 10, 2021

The holidays are almost here and I know everyone is sick and tired of talking about COVID-19, especially me and the staff in our Emergency Department.

But frontline healthcare workers need your help this holiday season to get COVID-19 numbers down in our community. So please make sure you get vaccinated against COVID-19. It’s the best tool we have to fight the virus. And make sure you get your booster when you’re eligible.

Also, if you are sick or injured and you need to come to our Emergency Department, please be kind to our staff when you are here. As healthcare workers, we’ve been busting our butts for the last 21 months doing our best to care for people, while dealing with the pandemic. It has not been easy. We are all tired, just like you. . Our patients are sicker than ever before due to the pandemic. They need more care which takes more time. So please be patient. This marathon has been long and we’re not out of the woods yet. And we now find ourselves as a COVID-19 hotspot with cases surging and 130 more patients than HSN was built for.

Be sure to do everything you can to avoid getting sick in the first place. Follow public health rules around COVID-19, avoid unnecessary travel, mask-up when you’re out in public, wash your hands and avoid spending time indoors with people who aren’t from your own household. Stay home and stay safe.

We need your help to get through this. Thank you.”
