April is oral health month, and for more than 45 years Dr. Bob Ulrichsen has been practicing dentistry in Greater Sudbury. For many of those years, he has also provided dental care services at HSN for medically complex patients of all ages who cannot safely access care in a community-based dental office.
Well-known for his extensive expertise and commitment to patient care, Dr. Ulrichsen is part of a team of dentists that perform outpatient procedures at HSN.
“Many people do not realize that HSN has dental services. Patients are referred to us by their dentist, with many having medical or physical conditions that require the procedure they are undergoing to be completed in a hospital setting. We understand that for some, this can be unsettling, but we try to create an atmosphere of comfort and trust. We talk, listen, and explain everything related to the procedure.”
When asked what he likes most about being a dentist, Dr. Ulrichsen quickly answered – his patients. “After practicing dentistry for over four decades, talking to my patients is one of my favourite aspects of my work. People are wonderful.”
