Chief Information and Privacy Officer

Steve assumed the Chief Information Officer (CIO) position at Health Sciences North (HSN) in July 2021. With over 25 years of dedicated service to HSN, Steve brings a rare blend of clinical expertise and digital leadership to this role.
Steve’s career at HSN began in clinical practice, including key positions at the Northeastern Ontario Regional Cancer Centre, including Radiation Therapist, Clinical Analyst and Manager of Oncology Informatics. This foundation in both healthcare delivery and information systems has uniquely positioned him to lead transformative digital initiatives that improve patient care and operational efficiency including, most recently, the implementation of Meditech Expanse at HSN.
Prior to accepting the CIO role, Steve served for nine years as the Director of Clinical Informatics and Applications within HSN’s Information Technology Program, advancing the Hospital’s Digital Strategy and leading the Northeastern Ontario Network (NEON) partnership supporting 20 hospitals across the region.
In his role as CIO, Steve oversees all hospital Digital Services, including its core IT services, Clinical Informatics, Cybersecurity, Information Privacy, Health Records and Registration.
