
Dr. Elendu Okoronkwo

Dr. Okoronkwo is a General Adult & Consultation Liaison Psychiatrist at Health Sciences North (HSN), Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. Most recently, he is Medical Staff Vice-President at HSN. He is Member of HSN Research and Ethics Board and Member of HSN Long Range Planning Committee. He is the psychiatric Lead for the Positive Steps Case Management Program of the Psychosocial Rehabilitation Program with Mental Health and Addictions Program at HSN. He provides HSN psychiatric consult services in the rural community of Elliot Lake. He is Lead for the new TMS at Kirkwood Site. Past Chief of the Department of Psychiatry (2019-2025) at HSN. He is Lead for Local Education Group (LEG) for Sudbury Psychiatry Group. He has a wealth of experience in the use of Electro-Convulsive Therapy (ECT) and also well trained in the use of Deep Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (dTMS) in treating resistant depression. He is active in the research community and is currently involved in a number of research projects. Dr. Okoronkwo graduated from the University of Nigeria and completed his specialist training in Dublin, Ireland. He is an Associate Professor at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine University (NOSMU). He is passionate about treating his patients with the best evidence based treatment modalities available and help them to achieve remission and attain functional recovery.
