Dr. Derek Manchuk

Dr. Derek Manchuk grew up in Timmins, Ontario, went to undergraduate studies at Western University and Medical School in Toronto. Following this training, he and his wife went to Family Medicine residency in Thunder Bay at the then new McMaster University Northern Ontario Medical Education Program which predated NOSM. He practiced family medicine briefly in Northern Ontario before returning to Anesthesiology specialty training at Western University. Dr. Manchuk then completed a fellowship in Critical Care Medicine, and he has been at Health Sciences North practicing anesthesiology and critical care medicine since 2003. He is Assistant Professor at NOSM, and was formerly the Associate Medical Director of the Critical Care Program, Critical Care Lead for the NELHIN and Chief of the Department of Critical Care. He is currently the Medical Lead for the HSN Virtual Critical Care Unit. His interests are in acute care telemedicine and ICU process improvement.
