Through a partnership between Health Sciences North and local school boards, Volunteer Services oversees the placement of secondary school students in the Co-operative Education Program. Participation of secondary school students in the organization is valued and an important step towards achieving our vision.
What is a Co-op?
Co-operative Education, often called ‘Co-op’, is a shared responsibility between the schools and the community to integrate classroom instruction with practical experience in the workplace.
Opportunity for Career Insight
The majority of students requesting a placement with HSN aspire to pursue a career in the healthcare field, with the prospect of working with adults, seniors and/or children. The Co-op placement affords students exposure to a hospital environment, as well as observing and interacting with patients, families and HSN staff.
